Iām curating a show! The Open Call officially launches next Monday, Jul 13, but Iām sharing with close friends to get the word out earlier.
To keep it brief, I am thinking of the Hudson River as metaphor for the experience of Black and Indigenous People and other People of Color. You can read more about the exhibition details here.
CONCURRENT seeks visual and performing art from New York City-based BIPOC artists that reflects, documents, interrogates, celebrates, and/or memorializes experiences of code switching, moving between worlds and identities, and the ability to respond to external pressures while remaining true to ourselves and our cultural roots.

Art, storytelling, and nature exploration along the shore
This event is part of Jamaica Bay Festival and City of Water Day.
See Jamaica Bay through fresh eyes! This creative outdoor experience blends art, storytelling, and nature exploration. Guided by Megan Elevado, participants will discover the ecology and history of the Bay during a relaxed nature walk while engaging with art techniques, creative prompts, and observation activities designed to deepen connections to the water and this unique urban ecosystem.

Field Funds // Open call: Artist-led Gatherings

Field Funds recipients are selected randomly by a random number generator. All eligible applications have the same chance of being funded.
We believe all parts of the creative process are valuableāfrom seeding new ideas to sharing work with audiences and archiving fleeting experiences. So, we designed a process where all eligible applications have the same chance of being funded. For this reason, there is no need for applicants to make a case for why a project is deserving of support, instead we ask applicants to speak directly and concisely to how they will specifically use $500.
All applications will be reviewed for eligibility. All eligible applications will be automatically assigned a number, and a number generator will make final selections randomly. 5ā7 applications will be selected for funding each cycle. Our intention is to create a nimble process that can be responsive to feedback and the changing needs of practitioners.

Wheelchair Cleaning and Maintenance Clinic
CP Unlimited is hosting its wheelchair cleaning clinic offering free cleaning, maintenance, and sanitizing for powered and non-powered wheelchairs, helping users maintain safe, reliable mobility throughout the year. Last yearās clinics supported hundreds of New Yorkers, including dozens served at community events and hundreds more through in-home repairs.
The next date is Saturday, July 11, 2026 on Staten Island at Cora Hoffman Center (2324 Forest Avenue). The August date will be Sunday, August 16, 2026 in Brooklyn at Jewish Board (1358 56th St).
The New York Health Act is a universal healthcare bill in New York State that would guarantee high quality, comprehensive healthcare for all New Yorkers.
Why do we need it?
The United States is the only industrialized country without a universal healthcare system. Americans pay the highest costs for healthcare in the world and have the worst health outcomes. New Yorkers pay the 2nd highest premiums in the United States. New Yorkers deserve high-quality healthcare, without being driven into debt to access it.
